REFLECTIVE ESSAY CONTEST

Please write a reflection on your experience at Maine’s First Virtual Career Fair. Allow these  questions to guide your writing:

  • What did you learn? 
  • Which connections did you find to be the most important? 
  • How did attending this event impact your career thinking and planning? Did the fair help you either solidify/narrow down your career plans or develop new ideas of what you might want to do? Explain how it did or didn’t help.
  • Would you recommend attending this event to your classmates?
  • ​What is one thing you can do now to either continue working towards your current career goals or to take the next step in determining a career path?

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

  • Submissions will be accepted from Maine students in grades 9-12 that participate in the ME Virtual Career Fair.
  • Word Count Minimum: 1,000
  • Word Count Maximum: 1,200
  • Use a clear, sans serif font in size 11 or 12.
  • No identifying information, including the student’s name, should appear anywhere on the manuscript.
  • Collaborative works are not allowed in any writing categories.
  • Please email your essay and include the school’s name of where you attend to: mevirtualcareerfair@gmail.com with the subject line: Contest Entry.  
  • Winners will be notified by email.  The grand prize gift card  will be mailed to the school you attend.
  • All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on May 30 using the contest form above.
  • Winner will be announced on June 4, 2021

ME Virtual Career Fair Video Conferencing Disclaimer
If you participate, you will be in a remote learning experience that will utilize video conferencing as part of this lesson. The use of video conferencing requires all students and staff to adhere to the rules contained in their respective district’s Acceptable Use Policy. Foremost of these policies is the expectation that all parties will participate in this learning experience in a respectful manner while ensuring that all parties will be respectful of the rights to privacy for all participants of this video activity. All parties need to respect the academic work and personal opinions of all presenters, students, staff, and teachers involved in this session. The unauthorized recording and dissemination of these sessions, without consent, is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and may also be subject to disciplinary action from your respective school administration while possibly resulting in a formal report being filed with the appropriate police department. Therefore, all participants in this remote learning experience and its use of video, agree that they will not save, record, share or post this video session or any photos or audio recording from this video session. Lastly, the rules of the classroom and your respective school building apply to all ME Virtual Career Fair remote learning experiences.
